Response Optimizer
|
Use Minitab's Response Optimizer to help identify the variable settings that optimize a single response or a set of responses. For multiple responses, the requirements for all the responses in the set must be satisfied.
Response optimization is often useful in product development when you need to determine operating conditions that will result in a product with desirable properties. For example, you may need to determine settings that optimize several properties of a product, such as its elasticity and puncture resistance.
Data Description |
|
A manufacturer produces molded resin parts. Contamination in hoses and abrasions to resin pellets can lead to discolored streaks in the final product. Higher temperatures and faster rates of transfer can cause pellets to clump together. Clumps can be difficult to move through hoses and into molds. The company collects data on the number of defects per hour.

Name |
Description |
|
C1 |
Size of Screw |
The large screw moves resin pellets through transfer hoses faster. |
|
C2 |
Hours Since Cleanse |
The time since workers cleaned the hoses. |
|
C3 |
Temperature |
The temperature around the pellets during transfer. |
|
C4 |
Discoloration defects |
The number of discolored streaks in the batch of final products. |
|
