The odds that the response falls into response categories k and below versus response categories greater than k for a given change in the predictor value. For example, for a response with categories 1, 2, and 3, an odds ratio of 1.5 indicates that there is a 50% increase in odds of having response 1 versus responses 2 or 3 for every one-unit change in the covariate.
