residuals, orthogonal regression
Residuals are used in regression analyses to indicate how well your model fits the data. In orthogonal regression, residuals are: (observed response) - (observed intercept) - (observed slope x observed response).
Use residual plots to check for outliers, nonlinearity, and lack of variance homogeneity. For larger samples, you can check normality using the residuals.
