Two-Level Fractional Factorial Designs- Summary Table

By default, Minitab displays a summary table for the fractional factorial design you have created. Use this summary table to verify that you have created the intended design.

Interpretation

For the insulation experiment, researchers created a two-level fractional factorial design with the following characteristics:

·    4 factors.

·    8 runs.

·    Unblocked (Blocks = 1).

·    Created from a base design with 4 factors and 8 runs (Base Design = 4, 8).

·    Unreplicated (Replicates = 1).

·    No center points (Center pts = 0).

·    Resolution IV. In a resolution IV design, no main effect is aliased with any other main effect or two-factor interaction. Two-factor interactions are aliased with each other.

·    1/2 fraction design. In a 1/2 fractional design, you only create data for 1/2 of the runs that are available for the full design. For the insulation data, experimenters plan to collect data for only 8 out of the possible 16 runs. This design is often referred to as a 2image\4_1super.gif design.
