Minitab calculates the predicted responses using the global solution variable settings. The predicted responses are the responses that you can expect if the global solution variable settings are used.
For the predicted responses, the confidence interval (CI) is a range of values that is likely to contain the mean response for a selected combination of variable settings.

Interpretation |
|
For the resin defect data, the global solution variable settings are temperature = 80, hours since cleanse = 0, and the size of the screw is small.
The predicted responses indicate that, according to the fitted model, a batch of parts produced using these settings will, on average, have about 54.23 discoloration defects and 5.667 clump defects.
Both of these quality characteristics fall within the acceptable boundaries. The confidence intervals indicate that the range of likely values for the mean number of defects falls within the acceptable boundaries. However, the value of Hours Since Cleanse changes constantly in production so the evaluation of the fits and confidence intervals at other times is important.
