Gage R&R Study (Nested)

ANOVA Method
Graphs - By Part

The By Part (Operator) graph shows all of the measurements taken in the study, arranged by part. The measurements are represented by dots; the means by the circle-cross symbol. The blue line connects the average measurements for each part.

Ideally,

·    the multiple measurements for each individual part will vary as little as possible (the dots for one part will be close together)

·    the averages will vary enough that differences between parts are clear

Note

If the number of observations per level is greater than 9, a boxplot is displayed.

Interpretation

For the temperature data, it appears that the measurements for operator 2 part 1 vary quite a bit. This may be due to the system's (operator and/or gage) inability to consistently measure that part. The averages do not seem to vary significantly. Since parts were probably chosen across the range of all possible values, this is a sign that the measuring system is inadequate.
