Regression Equation

The regression equation is an algebraic representation of the regression line and is used to describe the relationship between the response and predictor variables. The form of the regression equation with respect to the probability of an event depends on the link function.

Use the equation to predict the probability of an event.

Regression Equation

P(2) = exp(-0.567 - 0.0471 Length)/(1 + exp(-0.567 - 0.0471 Length))

Interpretation

For the health care center data, the response variable is Reason and the predictor is Length.

You can interpret the coefficient for Length as the change in the log odds when the predictor increases by 1. For example, when a patient stays an additional day the log odds that the center discharges them for other reasons decreases by 0.0471.
